Finding Your Place IN The Wall. Three Groups of People We Need To Surround Ourselves With
This Kingdom motivational minute encourages us to surround ourselves with three groups of people in order to thrive in all God has called us to be and do.
If we are to live and lead well, we need to have three groups of people in our lives: those who build us, those who inspire us, and those we give our lives to love and serve.
When these three groups of people are around us, we will continually receive support, encouragement and are giving our lives away to others.
YOUR PLACE IN THE WALL
The best way to illustrate this is with the analogy of a brick wall. In the middle of a wall, a brick has bricks under it, beside it, and above it, all connected by mortar. This makes the brick both strong and secure. Strength is gained by the supporting cast of bricks surrounding it.
Like this one brick IN the wall, we need to surround ourselves with people who are supporting us, running with us, and drawing strength from us.
THREE GROUPS EXPLAINED
1. Bricks Below (Mentors, Coaches, and Spiritual Fathers and Mothers) - These bricks explain those who make up the wall under us. They provide a foundation, support system, and strength for the journey.
Mentors, spiritual fathers and mothers, Pastors, life coaches, and more fit into this category.
These people walk in wisdom, are life-givers and encouragers. They believe in and pray for us. They see our calling and call out our anointing. They hold us accountable and provide personal development and direction with practical wisdom and life experience. They coach, inspire and correct us in a spirit of love and truth.
Bible Character: Jethro and Moses (Exodus 18)
2. Bricks Beside (Those you are running with that share your heart, vision, and goals)- This group consists of people running with us in our unique calling, career, and/or life goals. They are spouses, family, peers, teammates, friends, and comrades moving toward a common goal.
As a Pastor, I connect with other Pastors. We learn from and inspire one another. I need people running in the same race I am, who serve in the trenches as I do.
Our spouses can be the greatest source of inspiration in our journey. When we champion each other’s hearts and serve each other well, there is no telling how much can be achieved together.
Connect with those who are running in the same direction you are. Link shields and draw life from one another.
Biblical Characters: The Apostles (Book of Acts)
3. Bricks Above (Those we are serving and adding value to) - This group consists of people we love, serve, and add value. We support, teach, develop, and pour into them while loving and serving. We build up and disciple.
Life is meaningless until it’s given away. We give away our life by serving people. Saved people serve people.
Find people to serve and pour into. Do it joyfully as unto the Lord.
Bible Characters: Paul and Timothy (1 and 2 Timothy)
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Some people believe that the only three people they need in their lives are the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Though this is vital, it's not complete.
The truth is, God uses people to form and shape us. They carry His voice and intentions. In many ways, God uses people to strengthen, grow and develop us into the image of Jesus.
You need all three groups in your life.
Do you have people who are mentoring, supporting, and guiding you?
Do you have peers who are encouraging and inspiring you?
Do you have people you are serving, building, and pouring into?
If you don't have all three groups of people, then pray and be intentional about pursuing them. Take someone out to lunch or invite them to your house for dinner.
Your growth and reaching your full potential in God depends on it.
Question: Out of the three groups of people mentioned in the post, what group of people do you think you need more of in your life?
