5 Things We Must Continue to Do

We are over fifty days of the shelter in place order here in California. As we move closer to getting back to our lives, there are five things that we must continue to do as believers. Of course, there are other things we can add to this list, but I believe these five are foundational.

Continue to Trust in the Lord

"You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, because He trusts in you."

Isaiah 26:3

“Perfect Peace” comes from me trusting fully in the Lord. All anxiety does is expose areas where God’s peace is absent.

Trust must have an object. Make God this object. What I give my attention to, will eventually have my affection. Trust is a choice. Keep your focus on the Lord and discover His supernatural presence overwhelming you into a place of perfect peace.

Continue to Pray

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6,7

Prayer is the antidote to worry. Prayer is more than merely reading or reciting words or running down a list. Prayer is communion with your Heavenly Father that carries His presence in such a way that you know and feel secure and completely loved and cared for during trying times such as these.

Continue to Anchor Yourself in God’s Economy — We are in the Unshakeable Kingdom

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

Hebrews 12:28

As believers, I realize that we are a part of two governments, one in the spirit and one in the natural. God's government is superior in every way. We have to anchor ourselves in God's Kingdom economy continually. Continue to sow your time, energy, and resources into a Kingdom that will never see corruption and manipulation. Our investment in God's Kingdom brings a return that money can't buy.

Continue to Put Your Hope in God

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

Biblical hope is not just a desire for something good in the future, but rather, a confident expectation and assurance that the goodness God is actively involved in our future. Hope gives faith substance. (Heb. 11:1)

Hope is life-giving. It’s courageous. It brings God and His goodness into the future.

Continue to Respond to the Father

Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

John 5:19

While the rest of the world is reacting, we need to be responding. We need to know what our Heavenly Father is doing and bring His response to the world we live in. We are to be leading with Kingdom answers and solutions like Jesus did, because we live seated with Him in heavenly places.

We are Passing Through

Like I've said before, we are passing through this valley (Psalm 23). God will get you and me through this. Continue to put your full trust in Him. Love and encourage your brothers and sisters today with what I've written above.
